Users report Windows’s BSOD crashes after the latest ProtonVPN version update
ProtonVPN has been detected a bug causing BSOD crashes in Windows due to conflict with unnamed antivirus software solutions.
The blue Screen crashes don’t affect users, only the customizers using the latest version of the company’s Windows client software experienced this issue.
ProtonVPN said, “We have received reports that in particular circumstances the latest versions of ProtonVPN Windows clients (the stable version 1.18.2, and the early access version 1.18.3) might lead to Blue Screen crashes in Windows, due to a conflict with certain antiviruses.
“We are actively working on a fix that will be made available as soon as possible,” the company added in the status incident ticket opened over the weekend.
The victims are advised to disable their antivirus to prevent the system crashes or to download their ProtonVPN client.
“If you are affected by this situation we advise to either temporary disable the antivirus that might enter into conflict while using ProtonVPN, or to downgrade to the previous stable version.”
ProtonVPN denied providing much detail about what caused the stop errors. However, we have more details about the error provided by victims’ reports on the Windows BSOD by the latest ProtonVPN surface a fortnight ago.
As one of the users shared, the BSODs triggered rightly when they launched the VPN’s Windows Client. Some says, their systems would crash after the authentication or after establishing the VPN tunnel.
This is not the first time when users experience their Windows computers crash while using ProtonVPN. In such a case, the reinstalling the client and the drivers would not help as the bug affects the stable and early access protonVPN Windows clients.
