Office 2020 Updates: Microsoft Fixed Outlook Crash Issues

Reportedly, the newly released update from Microsoft for Outlook named Outlook 2020 update. This is a non security update which includes performance based improvements and fixes for issues affecting Windows installer (MSI) in MS Office versions like Office 2016, 2013 and Office 2010 as well.

This new update is termed as KB4484398, which addresses intermittent crashes n Outloook 2016 version and shared directories to disappear from Favorites when the Outlook is started in Office state.

Also, this new update fixes crash issues which was found in case of Excel 2016 and Powerpoint 2016 in some specific conditions. In addition to this, Microsoft has also addressed some errors which happens while importing data from MS Office applications using Power BI and SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)to load data from various Office apps into SQL server through this new update.

As per what is noticed, there are six of the Office 2020 non security updates released in June which applies to entire Microsoft Office 2016, Microsoft Office 2013 and 2010 suite. The two more update is also found which addresses the issues affecting OneNote 2016 and Outlook 2016.

The currently published update in June 2020 by Microsoft can also be installed manually by getting it through Download Center or by using Microsoft Update services as well for automatic installation.

These updates are to apply to Microsoft Installer (.msi) based Office applications only, but don’t apply to Office subscription or Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions like Microsoft Office 365 Home. Here comes the list of updates released today, and the Office applications which they applies to:

Restart is mandatory for some updates to apply

While discussing about the updates, it’s worth to mention that when you install some of the updates as aforementioned, you may also be asked to reboot your machine to apply the updates. However, in case if you start to notice your Office apps misbehaving after installation of updates, you can also choose revert the update installation with mentioned guidelines:

  1. Navigate to Start, and click on View Installed Updates, in the Search Windows box, and press Enter.
  2. In the list of updates, find and select the problematic update and click to select Uninstall, and follow further instructions.

Based on the Office updates you installed on your machine, you may also require to apply other updates as well to get the issues fixed on your machine.
