Windows 10 to get a new touch keyboard with improved emojis, GIFs and voice typing

Microsoft is planning to bring change in its built-in touch keyboard for Windows 10. There’ll be new key press animations, sounds and all the all-important ability to search for and insert animation GIFs. The updated keyboard design builds on the company’s work with Windows 10X.

This new design also includes better layout optimized for typing and the ability to move cursor through the space bar. Like iOS, it lets you operate the cursor by placing a finger on the space bar and sliding left, right, up and down to navigate around.

Emoji picker will also be updated. It will include an improved design based on Microsoft’s Fluent Design System. So, in a single interface, there’s emoji search, animated GIF support and the convergence of clipboard history and emoji input. Along with that, there will be a new form of Windows dictation today.

Also, there will be overhauled Dubbed Voice Typing, the voice to text interface built into Windows that make it the most reliable voice typing experience ever. It includes a more modern design, auto-punctuation and an updated backend.

In this week, all these changes are being tested with Windows insiders in the Dev Channel. They could be the part of bigger update for Windows 10 in the first half of 2021, as per officials.
