Qualcomm Snapdragon announces 888 5G SoC for its upcoming SmartPhones
Qualcomm on Tuesday during the first day of the Sanpdragon Tech Summit 2020 took a wrap to its much awaited 800 series chipset for its premium Smartphone.
The new chip dubbed as Snapdragon 888 5G, successor to the last year Snapdragon 865, comes with a third generation Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G modem, compatible for both mmWave and sub-6 networks across all major brands worldwide. It is also delivered an upgraded photography experience with an all-new Qualcomm Spectra ISP.
As per the official release, the computational photography with the new Spectra ISP will allow “users to capture photos and videos at 2.7 gigapixels per second or roughly 120 photos at 12MP resolution.”
There is new 6th Gen AI Engine coupled with an upgraded Hexagon processor for astounding 26 tera operations per second performance. The Aderno GPU will bring new mobile-first gaming features with the upcoming flagship phones.
In regards to how the company has debuted its newest flagship chipset during the pandemic grips the world, the Cristiano Amon, the president of Qualcomm Incorporated said, “It takes an organization that’s focused on tomorrow, to continue to deliver the technologies that redefine premium experiences.”
Qualcomm has listed the phones that will debut with the flagship powered by Snapdragon 888 Chipset next year. The list includes ASUS, Black Shark, Lenovo, LG, Meizu, Motorola, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, OPPO, Sharp, Vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
We can expect that the Mi Series from Xiaomi or the Samsung Galaxy S21 will the first to adopt the newer chipset next year. The Qualcom has not announced the complete details about the chipset, like the CPU and GPU cores, performance metrics and more.
