Microsoft will launch Windows 10X with Modern Standby feature
For several months, Microsoft has been working on a new verison of Windows 10, named Windows 10X. The giant tech company was planning to launch the new operating system this year, but the plan was postponed. Now, Windows 10X, which is built on top of the Windows 10 core OS is supposed to officially make available for public in second quarter of coming year. Details are gatered online with just a few months to the release.
Report says that the Windows 10X from Microsoft will come with a ‘Modern Standby’ feature to offer an instant-on and always-connected experience. At present, most Windows-powered laptops take some time to start from sleep mode. As the name indicates, with instant-on, the company targets to offer a feature where the device reboots the moment lid is open.
It will enable the applications to work in the background even during sleep mode, since an always-connected feature is another addition to the new operating system. This will be supportive for apps like emails, allowing it to obtain email messages in the background. Most Windows Store Apps are alleged to be well-suited with this feature.
Besides the Modern Standby feature, the upcoming Windows 10X is expected to come with various other features and upgradings that incudes a new File Explorer. We will have to wait for a few more months to know what’s up the company’s sleeves.
Users who are not aware, the Windows 10X scheme started out with a focus on dual-screen and foldable devices, but a few months ago, the release was delayed by the company which also disclosed that it’s changing focus to single-screen devices for the initial release.
