Windows Hello users increase to 84.7% with major features added

According to the latest report from Microsoft, the Window Hello biometric is now gaining popularity and has been observed to be using by 84.7 percent customers to sign in to Windows 10 instead of a password. Earlier in 2019, this data was only 609.4%.

For the one who is still not aware, Windows Hello is Microsoft’s biometrics based technology for Windows 10 users to authenticate access to their devices, apps, online services and networks with finger print, iris scan and facial recognition.

Microsoft says, the Windows Hello is more user friendly than passwords and also a secure and reliable than the traditional one.

Increasing Windows Hello users is likely because of Microsoft’s forcing users to use PINs when setting up a new user in Windows 10.

Also, there is increased in number of customers using password-less Azure Active Directory. It is recorded up by more than 50% users as more users now have switched to password-less sign-in options like Microsoft Authenticator and FIDO2 security keys.

Obviously, this growth is as a result of improvements made to the Windows Hello. Due to various additional features added to it, it is expected that the market share of the Microsoft’s biometric technology also increase in 2020 and 2021.

The added features include two new ways to use Windows Hello – Windows Hello in Safe Mode and Microsoft account integration with May 2020 update and the use of face, fingerprint or PIN to log-in the Microsoft accounts without manually typing the passwords.
