Windows 10 File Explorer Issues to be Fixed After Holidays
A number of users who are facing intrusive File Explorer issues on Windows 10 need to wait until the holidays to see a fix land on their updates center. The version 1909 brought some additional features like the segregation of the Windows Search into the File Explorer, providing results dynamically as the user types. Nevertheless, this new feature is not working as hoped-for everyone out there, since numerous users report application freezes, hangs and the search field becoming completely unresponsive.
The reports about this bug accumulated immediately on social media, so Microsoft’s Senior Program Manager, Brandon LeBlanc, responded on Twitter. Obviously, the team believes that this is not an urgent issue, so they will get rid of it after the holiday break. He promised that they will look into it, but people users not anticipate a fixing update in the following days for sure. This means that if you’re dealing with bugs with the new search feature, restarting the shell will remain your only option for a little while.
In the release notes for the Windows 10 Insider build 19013 released in November, Microsoft states that they have fixed the issue making the File Explorer’s search box unclickable. “We got rid of the bug where you could get into a state where it wasn’t possible to set focus to File Explorer’s search box in order to type your query.”
In the release notes for Windows 10 Insider build 19536 released in December, Microsoft also states that they are making it possible to right-click in the search field to remove entries.”We’ve updated the new File Explorer search experience to enable you to remove previous searches via an option if you right click the entry in the dropdown.”
