Users can limit the bandwidth in new Windows 10 update
A new Window 10 update can allow you to specify how much Internet bandwidth the update processes used so that it will not impact the other programs. This updates ranging in sizes between 200 MB and 500 MB. It can quickly utilize all of a network’s available Internet bandwidth. This uses of the bandwidth will cause other programs like browsers and games not to work. Here is the steps to limit the bandwidth used by Windows update in Windows 10, Windows store and other Microsoft products:
- Open settings,
- Head to Update Security> Windows Update
- Click on Advanced options on the Window update page appears
- Scroll down and click on Delivery Optimization
- In this Delivery Optimization settings page, click on “Advanced options” again
- In the Delivery Optimization Advanced option page, put a checkmark in the “Limit how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates in the background” and “Limit how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates in the foreground”.
The first option limits the bandwidth usage of the Window update and the second option is for the foreground activities such as Microsoft Store.
- Drag the slider to set the limit as a percentage as per your wish
- After this, close the settings
When this setting enabled, during Windows 10 performs the updating, it will only use the specified amount of the bandwidth and thus allow other apps to continue using the Internet without issues.
By the end of this month, Windows 10 2004 will be available. It allows you to specify the exact amount of the bandwidth that can be used for update processes. This feature also allows the Windows 10 users to choose between a specific numbers of Mbps that can be used or select a limit as a percentage.
