The oldest C and PHP constitutes over 63% of all the vulnerabilities in 2019
We always try to use the best programming language. The best one should not confuse with the popular one and must be given the priority to security first. The most secure one should be ranked one in the list of the best programming language.
Recent post from WhiteSource reveals that C programming language accounts for the highest percentage of all vulnerabilities that is over 77% in the last 10 years. Its research is based on the data collected from various sources such as security advisories, open source issue trackers and NVD.
The C and PHP, the oldest programming language, constitute over 63% of all the vulnerabilities of which the C along contributes over 47%. The reason of this could be the high volume of code written in these languages. This percentage is however decreasing in the popular languages like Go and Pythens. These scripting languages have comparatively less vulnerable code. Therefore, Pythons are now the first choice of all beginner and professionals.
The most prevalent vulnerability is the Cross-Site-Scripting information leak and input validation. The reason for this vulnerability is the simple code errors and imprecise coding. However, open source communities are trying to implement various methods to track and report these issues. But, the professionals even are suggested to check the basic security risk in codebase constantly.
