Remove DT Ransomware (Open Locked Files)

DT Ransomware: Simple Uninstall Process

DT Ransomware is a malicious application which tends to encrypt data and then force victims to pay the attackers a hefty sum of ransom for their decryption. Coming from the family of Dharma ransomware, it’s a very hazardous crypto-malware that can compromise almost all types of files stored inside the Windows computers including images, audios, videos, documents, presentations, spreadsheets, etc. and make them completely inaccessible. The DT virus also renames the infected files by adding victims’ unique ID, attackers’ email address, and appending “.DT” extension with each of them. After that, it starts blackmailing users for the ransom.

DT Ransomware Asks Victims To Contact Criminals:

Once the encryption process is completed, DT Ransomware displays couple of ransom notes in a pop-up window and “info.txt” file and informs victims about the unkind situation. They are also instructed to contact the attackers via the [email protected] and [email protected] email addresses to restore the data. They are also warned against renaming the encrypted files or trying to decrypt them with some third-party tools/software, or it may result in permanent data loss. At the end, the affected users may have to pay the criminals a ransom amount of $200 to $1500 in Bitcoins cryptocurrency to acquire the decryption software.

Paying Ransom Never Works:

No matter what situation is, you should not make any sort of payment to the DT Ransomware operators. Keep in mind that the only motive of such hackers is to extort illicit ransom money from the victimized users; they are not in data-recovery business. There are multiple occasions when crooks just ignored the victims once the payment is made or delivered rogue software in the name of decryption tool. Additionally, after taking the demanded fee, their confidence will be high and they will certainly consider triggering more such attacks for further profits. So, never do that and focus on DT Ransomware removal from the machine immediately.

Restore Data From Backup:

For data-recovery, the best way to do is to use a recently made backup stored on any external location. Security experts strongly recommend keep making frequent backups that can be very useful in restoring the contaminated files in such pernicious situation. Nonetheless, in the absence of an appropriate backup, you can also try a powerful data-recovery application. These recovery tools don’t always provide the best results but can still be very handy.

Ways To Propagate DT Ransomware:

Most often, DT Ransomware or other crypto-viruses are spread with the help of spam emails that are sent by cyber criminals in thousands in a large-scale operation. These deceptive mails are often presented as ‘important’, ‘urgent’, or similar but usually contain malicious attachments that could be in several formats e.g., archives (ZIP, RAR, etc.), Microsoft Office and PDF documents, executables (.exe, .run, etc.), JavaScript, and so on. As soon as the virulent file is opened, it triggers the installation of virus.

To avoid infecting the PC systems from such destructive viruses, it is important to ignore suspicious emails coming from unknown addresses. Moreover, choose only official sources and direct links for your software and products and avoid using unreliable channels, Peer-to-peer sharing networks, and other third-party downloaders. In case your PC is already infected with this hazardous crypto-malware, you must remove DT Ransomware from the work-station as early as possible.
