YRNB file virus– more information
The YRNB file virus enters the systems through the common tactics as used by other variants of STOP/DJVU Ransomware. The two primary methods used by these applications are:
- Spam emails – These emails contain infectious files or links for such files as attachments. The attachments are typically presented as invoices, aircraft tickets and others.
- Untrustworthy downloading channels – these channels include p2p networks, free file hosting sites and third party downloaders/ installers. They offer malware by presenting them as legit software.
Once the malware infiltrates systems, it connects to the server of the crooks behind it. Various malicious files that support the behavior and function of the malicious malware are then dropped by them. These files can be found in the Windows directories with random names such as %ProgramData%, %Windows%, %System%, %system32%, %Roaming%, %Local%, %AppData%, %LocalLow% and %Temp%.
Among the files dropped by YRNB file virus is _readme.txt ransom note that provides the users the alleged instruction how to get the decryption tool by paying ransom fee to the crooks. Being a DJVU/STOP ransomware variants, the virus encrypts all stored files including Videos, Pictures, Databases, Archives, Anything conserved in a USB or other drive, Back-ups, Docs and Music and etc, using strong AES encryption algorithm.
These files can’t be accessed without using a unique decryption tool. This is a fact. However, there is no guarantee that the crooks will provide that tool once all their demands are met. Although, through the ransom note, they try to being very honest – they promise to provide the decryption tool once the payment is done, provide a video of how the decryption tool works, offer free decryption service before the payment to gain users’ trust and also offer huge discount.
These all are however, merely an attempt to trick people into fall for their scams and end up paying the ransom fee to them. Once the payment is received, they disappear leaving the victims without their files. So, if you proceed to pay, you will suffer financial loss and will have the files remain in encrypted form. Therefore, it is better if you think of some alternatives for the files recovery. The best option is to remove YRNB file virus and recover the files using backups you have.
Aside doing the files encryption (and renaming the files with .YRNP extension) and showing the ransom demanding fee, the ransomware may perform the following activities:
- Establishing a remote connection to the crooks running it,
- Creating windows registry entries in the Run or RunOnce Registry sub-keys,
- Running as administrator,
- Obtaining read and write authorities,
- Analyzing if the system was infected previously – so as to delete itself.
Now, you understand how much it is important to perform YRNB file virus removal. The malware removal is also necessary to initiate the files recovery process as the malware will not let you perform the files recovery till it presets. For the YRNB ransomware removal, follow our guide provided below the post. After successfully doing the removal process, use the backups you have and restore the files. If there is no backup option available -check if Shadow Copies are available (the automatically created backups from OS). For the complete guide, refer our data recovery section. Another data recovery option is to use existing backup you have.
