How to remove RunExeMemory ransomware and recover encrypted files

Easy tips to delete RunExeMemory ransomware and restore data

RunExeMemory ransomware is a cryptovirus that is designed to encrypt stored files and then demand ransom payment for the decryption, i.e., decryption tool/ software. The encrypted files will receive a string of random characters as file extension. For example, you would see your file 1.jpg would become 1.jpg.c87hqe after the encryption. The ransom demanding message is dropped just after the files encryption process is complete. It is displayed in “Read me, if you want to recover your files.txt” file.

The ransom demanding message provides instructions to the users on how to contact the crooks behind the RunExeMemory ransomware and pay them ransom (purchase the decryption software) and various other details. As per the ransom note, if you want to get access to the encrypted files, you would have to pay 539 Bitcoins to the crooks. Nowhere in the text provides the payment and contact details and so it can be said that the ransomware is at its initial attack.

However, even in the case when there is contact/ payment information provided in the ransom note, you require not to step to follow the ransom payment instructions. There is a major chance that the crooks will disappear- leaving you without your files, once the payment is received. To recover the encrypted data, you have to think of some alternatives such as backups you have or the shadow copies and third party data recovery tools (check the data recovery section below the post for more detailed guide).

Before stepping to this, you should remove RunExeMemory ransomware at first. The malware is so cunning that if it presents during the files recovery process, it will interfere and will not make you succeed in your attempt. To remove the ransomware infection, you can employ some powerful antivirus tool. Manually, it will be difficult to perform the removal process of any ransomware. For step-by-step guide for the removal process, follow our instruction provided below the post.

How did RunExeMemory ransomware infiltrate my systems?

Ransomware and other malicious malware are often distributed through emails, fake software updaters, files downloaded from unreliable sources, software cracking tools and Trojans. Mal-spam emails have infectious files or links in them. The main aim of such emails is to trick people into opening the malicious file, for instance, a malicious Microsoft Office document, ZIP, RAR or other archive file, PDF document, JavaScript file, executable file and so on. Fake software updaters do not install updates of fixes for any software. They are often disguised as legit and often lead to the malware download/ installation at the end.

Untrustworthy downloading channels such as p2p networks, free file hosting sites and third party downloaders/ installers can cause malware download/ installation too. Crooks spread malware using these sources by promoting them as legit software. Software cracking tools activate licensed software illegally. Also, it is very common that users who are using such tools end up downloading/ installing malware on their system. Trojans are malicious malware especially designed to download/install additional computer malware.

Third party downloders, installers, p2p networks, unofficial pages and etc should never be used as tools, channels to download any files or programs. These should be downloaded from official websites and direct links. Irrelevant, suspicious emails having unknown, suspicious addresses and have file attached to them should never be trusted. It is common that these emails deliver malware. Installed apps should always be updated/ activated using the tools/ functions from official software developers. Avoid third party, unofficial tools – they often are malicious/ bundled with malware. Also, it is illegal to activate licensed software using unofficial tools or use any hacked/ pirated software.
