How to remove Robin Ransomware and recover files

Easy tips to delete Robin Ransomware and decrypt data

Voidcrypt’s family virus, Robin Ransomware encrypts files and renames their filenames. It appends the [email protected] email address, possibly a victim’s ID, and the “.robin” extension to filenames. For example, a file 1.jpg would appear as “1.jpg.[[email protected]][MJ-IF6492831075].robin”, “2.jpg” to “2.jpg.[[email protected]][MJ-IF6492831075].robin” and so on.

The malware also creates “Read-it.txt” file (a ransom note). The ransom note contains the instruction on how to contact the attackers for the files’ decryption. it instructs them to send “prvkey.txt.key” file stored on the ProgramData folder to the email address belongs to the crooks provided in the text file. After contacting, they would likely to receive the payment information.

The text file also mentions that the victims can send one encrypted file, prior to the payment is done. The free decryption of this file would serve as a proof that the files decryption is possible with the crooks’ decryption tool. Once after the payment is received, the crooks claim to provide the decryption tool.

While we can’t deny this fact that there exists such decryption tool without which the files cannot be decrypted. This is also true that the crooks are the only people who have the right decryption tool. Even though, paying/ contacting these people is highly not recommended as they will never provide the decryption tool even if you fulfill all their demands.

They are just to scam you. They just disappear, leaving you without your files once the payment is received. Thus, you will suffer financial loss and the files remain encrypted. Thus, it is advised to think of some alternatives such as backups from the files recovery. Backups are crucial in such a case. If you have the one, you will have nothing to look back –simply remove Robin Ransomware and use the backups to restore the files.

The problem is that not all users have such backup files and the main problem arises there as they are in the verge to loss access to their important files and documents. We want to say these people not to lose hope as there still a hope of data recovery they have. They should once check if Shadow Copies exist. These are automatically created backups that some ransomware leaves it completely untouched.

Also, there are many third party data recovery tools out there on the internet claiming to provide recovery for all damaged, altered, corrupted, missing and virus infected files. Even if these alternatives do not work in your case, you should keep a copy of all encrypted file and keep it save some remote drive and then remove Robin Ransomware. You can use this drive to restore the files if official decryption tool we have.
