How to remove NaS ransomware and recover files

Easy tips to delete NaS ransomware and decrypt data

NaS ransomware is a malicious program belongs to Dharma ransomware group. It is designed to encrypt stored files and then demand ransom payment for the decryption. The affected files are renamed with this pattern: original filename, unique ID number assigned to the victim, crooks’ email address and .Nas extension.

For example, a file 1.jpg would be renamed to “1.jpg.id-9ECFA84E.[[email protected]].NaS”. Afterwards, ransom notes are created/ displayed in a pop-up window and FILES ENCRYPTED.txt. The message in the text file simply states the victims that their files have been locked and instructs them to contact the crooks.

The ext presented in the pop-up window provides more information about the ransomware infection. It clarifies about the files encryption and informs that to restore the files- they must have to pay a ransom in Bitcoin cryptocurrency.

Additionally, the message offers free decryption of one encrypted file and contains warning against doing certain actions that may result in permanent data loss. The full text presented in the pop-up window displayed by the NaS ransomware:

To prevent NaS ransomware from further files encryption, it must be removed from the system. However, the removal will not restore the files already compromised. The solution for the files recovery is to use existing backups you have.

If backup is not available, once check if Shadow Copies exist. These automatically created backups are sometimes untouched during system infection with such ransomware threats and their operation of files encryption. Thus, they ultimately become data recovery option for the users.

In the data recovery section below the post, you will find complete guide to recover the files using Shadow Copies. If this option also does not work for you, you have to rely on third party data recovery tool or wait for the official decryption tool.
