How to remove Irfk Ransomware and recover files

Easy tips to delete Irfk Ransomware and decrypt data

Belonging to DJVU variant, Irfk Ransomware is a malicious computer infection designed to encrypt data and then demand ransom payment for the decryption. In other word, the victims are asked to pay- to restore access to those files.

The affected files are recognized with .irfk extension added to their filenames. For example, a file 1.jpg would appear as “1.jpg.irfk”, “2.jpg” as “2.jpg.irfk”, “3.jpg” as “3.jpg.irfk”, etc. Once after this process is complete – a ransom note _readme.txt is created and dropped onto the desktop.

The ransom demanding message states that the files have been encrypted and informs that the victims now have to purchase a unique decryption tool for $980 – to restore their files. If they contact with the crooks within 72 hours, the ransom payment will be reduced to 50%, i.e., $490.

Unfortunately, in most ransomware infection cases, without the crooks’ involvement- the decryption is impossible. Furthermore, despite meeting the ransom demands – the victims often do not receive the decryption tool.

Removing Irfk Ransomware from the system – will prevent further files encryption. But, the removal will not restore already compromised files. The sole solution for the files recovery is to use existing backups. But before doing that, you should remove the ransomware to avoid its interference.

To remove it, employ a reputable antivirus tool or follow our manual instructions provided below the post. Once after removing the ransomware, use the backup file you have and restore the encrypted files in the accessible form.

For rest of the files whose backups are not available, you can check them for Shadow Copies if exist. These automatically created backups from Windows OS sometimes left untouched during the entire process of system attack and files encryption process.

You can try retrieving the files using third party data recovery tools if the files left unrecovered with the above two data recovery options. You can find the complete data recovery tips below the post in the data recovery section.
