How to remove Foo ransomware and retrieve locked files

Tips for Foo ransomware removal from system

Foo ransomware is ransomware type program that was discovered by virus analyst Tomas Meskauskas and belongs to VoidCrypt ransomware family. This ransomware encrypts all users’ data and adds victim’s ID and “.Foo” extension to the end of their filenames and creates! INFO.HTA files in every folder which contains encrypted files. Therefore, users are unable to access any file as earlier states.

The created pop-up window informs victims that the files are encrypted and users require a unique decryption tool that can be purchased only from the attackers. You have to pay the demanded ransom amount in form of Bitcoin cryptocurrency within 48 hours after the ransomware attack otherwise the price of decryption key will become just double than earlier by the cyber criminals.

Victims also need to contact the cyber criminal through the given below email address to know how to use decryption key. Additionally, users are warned not to rename encrypted file using third party software as it might results into permanent data loss. Despite this, victims are also offered free decryption of some encrypted files as a proof that cyber criminals have decryption tool.

Regrettably, there are no any tools available that could release files encrypted by Foo ransomware. It means that the only one way to recover files is to decrypt them with a tool that can be purchased from the attackers. It is important to know that paying criminals a ransom does not guarantee you will get your data back. It is a risk and you don’t want to take.
